We've all seen the descriptions of diversity that are visual and obvious - and it's time to define diversity in a different way:  to understand diversity on a personal level, going beyond labels, beyond non-discrimination -- looking at personal style as a means to demonstrate and fully utilize and appreciate the richness of diversity:  talent.

This full-day workshop will include:

  • History -- How we moved from the Civil Rights Act to Affirmative Action ( inclusion ) to Valuing Diversity ( cultural change ) and on to Managing Diversity ( a business strategy focusing on maximizing the productivity, creativity and commitment of the workforce. )

  • Style -- What makes us different:  Increasing self-awareness, recognizing and appreciating  differences in individual style, identifying your own trigger points (perspective, assumption and beliefs, fear, values); explore how managing a fully diverse workforce benefits all of us.

  • Relationships :  D evelop techniques for appreciating and understanding others,  develop flexibility in your actions, thoughts and feelings, identify communication barriers (like imposing your assumptions on others), find out if your communication style reflects the messages you really want to send, and discover ways to change people's perceptions of you.

  • Learn :  The top 10 hints for a successful Diversity Program, and how to keep it going.

Our workshop is participatory, energizing, and results-oriented. We engage each person's unique perspective on the immediate issues of team-building and leadership development , and we engage people from all levels of the organization, using lively activities, games and role plays to identify opportunities for developing a fully inclusive and productive organizational culture.
